Welcome to the 2010-2011 Hollywood Wildcat Soccer Club Recreation Program

Heading our very active recreational program for our 2010-2011 Hollywood Wildcat Soccer Club Fall Recreation Season will be Brian Kett and Doug Thompson. If you have a concern, email Doug at soccerwildcats@bellouth.net. We need coaches for all age levels and you can participate and have a great time with your children. 2010-2011 Recreation Season Frequently Asked Questions

Registration and sign-up: All registration is now ONLINE. You will create an online ID for yourself using your email address, and create your own password. Make sure you remember your password, it makes it much easier later.

Costs: The cost is $150 per player for Hollywood residents, $170 per player for non-residents. Multiple children discounts are given at the time of registration. No player is ever denied a chance to play due to financial reasons.

Player birthday/age division: The player’s birth date determines what age division he/she plays in–no players can play up or down–it’s all determined by birth dates listed below:

U5: Born between 8/1/2005 and 7/31/2006

U6: Born between 8/1/2004 and 7/31/2005

U8: Born between 8/1/2002 and 7/31/2004

U10: Born between 8/1/2000 and 7/31/2002

U12: Born between 8/1/1998 and 7/31/2000

U14: Born between 8/1/1996 and 7/31/1998

U17: Born between 8/1/1993 and 7/31/1996

Practices: U5 and U6 players practice one night a week (Mon, Tue, Wed or Thur) from 6-7 p.m. U8 players practice twice a week (MW or TTH) from 6-7 p.m. and U10, U-12 and U15 players practice twice a week (MW or TTH) from 6-7 p.m. or from 7-8 p.m.

Games: All games are on Saturday mornings, with a few games possible on Friday nights

Equipment: All players must supply their own cleats, practice clothing, shinguards and ball. The club provides game jerseys, shorts and socks.

Ball sizes for each age group: Soccer balls come in different sizes for each age group, and it’s important to buy the correct size ball for your child: U5, U6 and U8 players use a Size 3 ball—U10 and U12 players use a Size 4 ball—U14 and U17 players used a Size 5 gall.

Important season dates: Clinics begin the week of Aug. 24 at Boggs Field (23rd and Sheridan) and continue through September with clinics and player evaluations. The clinics and evaluation schedule is to be determined. The first practices begin in late September/early October and the first games are early October. The season concludes in late January 2011.

Professional and Volunteer Coaches

Director of Coaching Mauro Tavars has an outstanding training program available for new and veteran coaches. Hollywood Wildcats also provides professional coaching assistance to our volunteer coaches and our players on a rotating basis. The well-known and popular Filip and Hans, along with our new addition Martyn Lancaster, will rotate throughout the season to bring their expertise to each team.

Their services will be available to all coaches throughout the season. Coach Tavars will be running a two-day Hollywood Wildcats Internal Certification program for new and current coaches in September 2010.

All coaches will learn new techniques on how to coach soccer and teach our youths the game the right way. Whether you are a seasoned coach or just new to the program, this program will be extremely beneficial.
